We have developed a number of business conference websites for USAID projects implemented by Chemonics and Nathan Associates. The websites were created for "Business to Business", "Micro-Finance Institutions" and "Tourism B2B" conferences.

Conference websites not only provided information on the conferences but also allowed participants to create and manage their business profiles online and to contact other businesses. Participants were able to interact with each other and to set-up meetings in advance. The websites were important tools for attracting international companies to project-sponsored events.

These websites had the following features:

• Registration for the conference for the businesses and individuals and publishing of pre-screened and approved profiles detailing the products and services they were offering for sale or wished to buy.
• Publishing the list of participants in the conference.
• Ability to contact other participants via the online meeting scheduler to allow participants to plan their meeting before the conference.
• Access by the registered participants to all conference documents, e.g. financial statements and business plans.
• Logistical information regarding flights and hotels.
• Conference agenda updated as the list of guest speakers and organisations making presentations is being finalized.

The system handles creation of new conferences, registration of business and individual participants, and allows participants to contact each other. The system allows conference administrators to manage the whole content of the conference and to approve and make changes to the profiles of participants.
